Marquette University mourns the loss of Tom Ford

Marquette University mourns the loss of Tom Ford, former assistant director of athletics, who died on Tuesday, June 10, at 75.

Tom retired after 25 years at Marquette, where he developed and oversaw Athletics’ academic support unit. He helped grow the office from one person serving 160 student-athletes to a team of five supporting over 300 student-athletes today. Thousands of student-athletes, managers and tutors benefited from the program’s services, which included academic advising, tutoring, writing assistance and personalized study plans.

In 2016, Tom received the Hy Popuch Award, given annually by the Marquette M Club to someone who has demonstrated loyal and dedicated service to Marquette Athletics over a long period of time.

A memorial service and celebration of Tom’s life will be held at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, on Monday, June 16, at 11:30 a.m. Visitation will be in the funeral home on June 16 from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

A full obituary is available online. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association, North Pointe United Methodist Church or Big Brothers Big Sisters of Racine.

Please remember Tom, his family and friends in prayer.
